Question 1

How much does a resin driveway cost in Worcester?

Accepted Answer

It depends on the size of the drive, the condition of the existing base and how much groundwork is needed. A drive that can be resurfaced over sound concrete costs less than one that needs digging out and a new sub-base. We measure the area and check the existing surface before giving a figure, so the price you get is the price of the job.

Question 2

Is a resin driveway permeable?

Accepted Answer

A resin-bound surface laid to the right depth over a permeable build-up allows water through it. If it is laid over solid concrete or tarmac, the surface itself still lets water pass, but the water then has to go somewhere, so drainage needs planning at the quote stage.

Question 3

Can resin be laid over concrete?

Accepted Answer

Often yes, provided the concrete is sound, stable and free from significant cracking or movement. We check for lifting slabs, damp and levels first. Where the concrete is breaking up, it is better to take it out.

Question 4

Can resin be laid over tarmac?

Accepted Answer

Tarmac in good condition makes a reasonable base. Older tarmac that is crumbling, potholed or heavily patched will show through in time, so we assess it properly before recommending resurfacing.

Question 5

How long does a resin driveway last?

Accepted Answer

Well-prepared drives commonly stay in good order for many years. Lifespan comes down to the base beneath it, the depth laid, drainage and how it is looked after. A poor base is the usual cause of early problems.

Question 6

How long does installation take?

Accepted Answer

Most domestic drives in and around Worcester take a few days. Excavation and sub-base work take the bulk of the time; the resin surface itself is usually laid in a day.

Question 7

Do resin driveways need planning permission?

Accepted Answer

A permeable surface, or one that drains to a border or soakaway, normally does not require permission. Larger front gardens surfaced with a non-permeable finish that drains to the road may do. We can talk this through when we visit.

Question 8

Are resin driveways slippery?

Accepted Answer

The aggregate gives a textured surface with reasonable grip. Where a drive is steep or shaded, a slightly coarser aggregate helps.

Question 9

Can weeds grow through resin?

Accepted Answer

Not through the surface itself. Occasionally seeds settle on top and root in surface debris, particularly along edges. Sweeping keeps this to a minimum.

Question 10

Can you pressure wash a resin driveway?

Accepted Answer

Yes, with sense. Keep the pressure moderate, use a fan nozzle and hold it back from the surface. Very close, high-pressure jets can dislodge stone.

Question 11

What happens if my current driveway has poor drainage?

Accepted Answer

This is common on older Worcester properties where levels have changed over the years. We look at where water currently sits and where it should go, then allow for a channel drain, a permeable build-up or a border soakaway in the quote.

Question 12

Is resin better than block paving?

Accepted Answer

Not always. Resin gives a smooth, joint-free finish with no weeds between blocks. Block paving is easier to lift and relay for services and suits some period properties better. It depends on the house and how you use the drive.

Question 13

What colours are available?

Accepted Answer

Natural stone blends in buffs, golds, greys and darker flint tones, along with mixed blends. Lighter blends brighten a shaded frontage; mid greys hide dirt best. We can leave samples with you.
